After spending so much time creating our wonderful gap year website & blog, we have come across some great websites & independent blogs that we wanted to share with you.
Doesn’t matter if you are looking for some inspiration, an insight into another culture, advice on a destination or just a good read; you REALLY should check these guys out! (in no particular order either!)
INDEPENDENT BLOGS
- DIWYY: is a website for young women from the ages of 18-35 designed to inspire and guide readers to travel, study, work, and volunteer abroad. DIWYY was founded by Jerri Stephenson and Kristina Wegscheider who together have covered more than sixty countries and territories spanning from Antarctica to Japan to Zimbabwe – and they have not even reached age 30.
- BrookeVStheworld: I’m a 20-something traveler from central Illinois on an extended journey to see the world. On my first trip overseas to Italy in 2000, I made a promise to myself to spend a large part of my life experiencing cultures other than my own. I quit my job in late 2007, and have been globetrotting ever since!
- The Aussie Nomad: My name is Chris Richardson and I’m a late 20’s career breaker. Why leave all that behind you ask, well after 6 years in the cubicle answering the phone and spinning the sales pitch I decided that there was more to life. This blog will serve as a guide to both myself and others to show that it is possible.
- Pause The Moment: We’re a couple of travel obsessed twenty-somethings born and raised about 25 miles south of Boston, Massachusetts. On June 5th, 2010 we’re stuffing our backpacks, hitting the road and saying goodbye to this wonderful world as we know it.
- Travels of Adam: I am a 25-year-old graphic designer in Boston, Massachusetts. I started working (at the same job I’ve got today) two weeks before I had even graduated from Boston University. Without any transition period between school and “real-life,” I’ve been pretty busy making a career and being responsible these past few years.
- A Pair Of Panties & Boxers: Words can’t fully capture a person’s character. It’s your actions that define who you are. And those actions should be filled with passion. Life should be lived with passion. Traveling makes me feel that way
- Candice Does The World: My first travel experience occurred two years ago, when I left Canada for the first time and studied for six weeks in England. In that time, I hopped to Scotland, Ireland and Holland. This year, I’ve navigated Mexico and France.
- Suzy Guese: My passion for travel and writing began a few years later with family vacations across the United States and Europe. Those family vacations expanded my ideas about travel, specifically after a visit to Rome. When Audrey Hepburn’s character in the movie is asked which city she enjoyed most on her tour, she adamantly responds, “Rome, by all means, Rome.” I developed this absoluteness for Rome, but more specifically for Italy.
- The Jungle Princess: I’ve never actually been called a princess. Neurotic workaholic? Yes. Stress case? Yes. A boss lady you don’t want to cross? Uh-huh. Then, in August 2009, I landed in tiny Playas del Coco, Costa Rica, with my blond highlights, stilettos and severe bug phobia. And princess I was dubbed! Now blissfully stripped of all of that nonsense (except for the highlights), I’m settled into a life of Spanish classes, drinking on my neighbor’s stoop and sunset walks on the beach.
- Nomadic Chick: I’m in my late thirties faced with an unsatisfying desk job and a growing resentment towards the North American lifestyle. So, what’s a girl to do? Sell my earthly possessions and travel the world, of course! My ultimate dream is to combine two pastimes: traveling and writing. Where could I end up? Hopefully a travel writer and full-time digital nomad.
WEBSITES
- SoSauce: – short for “Social Sauce” – highlights the saucy side of travel and the social aspect that gives it value. We’re an authentic community for travel geeks- the curious traveler who will get up early to see the sunrise over Mt. Fuji, or go out of their way to try the local tribal delicacy. You’ll find that the people are friendly, the experiences are rich, and the applications are powerful. We welcome you to join us.
If you want to be included in the list of all lists . . .then leave us a comment or get in touch (see contact us link – top right)!
